THE ALPHABET GAME - "The alphabet game is in place of hangman and instead of drawing gallows we draw a flower, first the stem, leaves, then petals, all one at a time until a flower is made or the word or phrase is guessed/completed. (it is always a character or concept from the lesson or someone from the Book of Mormon etc.) I play it with 4-5 year olds who cannot read, but they recognize their letters, So I put the alphabet up on the chalkboard and as they guess the letters I erase them, I also help them read and sound out what they've guessed it makes for a satisfying end to the class time. The best thing about it is it's them competing against the drawing and they usually win!! It helps keeps order in the room the last few minutes of class." TANYA LANTZ, VANCOUVER, WASHINGTON
