FAMILY HOME EVENING ACTIVITY DAY - "We did this activity in January to encourage FHE. We opened up with a song and a prayer and then divided the children into four groups (families stayed together). Each group went to a different station for 20 minutes. At one station the children colored and cut-out a flannel board story copied onto cardstock from The Friend (we had the story copied as well and put all pieces into a zip-lock bag with the family name written on it). For another station we played group games. Another station was music. We made visuals they could use in FHE. Big lips on a Popsicle stick for "hum" and an open mouth on a Popsicle stick for "sing". We also put them into a zip-lock bag with the family name written on it. One of the favorite stations was the treats! We made Pillsbury biscuit pizzas, purple cows, and indoor s'mores. Ahead of time we made a flannel-board for each family out of discarded fabric bolts covered with flannel. It was a fun activity! Throughout the year, each month we copied one flannel board story for each family from The Friend and put it into a ziplock bag. "JULIE, WASHINGTON
